Alfredo G. Perez

Alfredo Gus Perez was elected to the Laredo ISD Board of Trustees for District 4 in November 2024.
A product of LISD and graduate of the Nixon High School Class of 1976, Mr. Perez received a bachelor’s of Science Degree in Secondary Education in 1990 and a master’s of Science in Education Administration from Texas A&M International University. He is currently pursuing his Superintendent Certificate from Texas A&M International University and a Doctoral of Education degree from Texas A&M University in College Station.
Mr. Perez began his educational career in 1990, as a teacher at Martin High School. During his 15 years at Martin High Perez taught Physical Science, Chemistry, Physics as well as, Business Communications. He was also the UIL Science and Science Club sponsor.
In 2003, Mr. Perez was named the Director of the Sabas Perez Engineering and Technology Medical School at Cigarroa High School, a position he held for 19 years. Prior to his retirement 2024, Mr. Perez was the LISD Business, Industry, and Community Partnership Coordinator.
Mr. Perez is actively involved with Texas A&M International University Alumni Association and the Phi Kappa Honors Association. He also served as an officer for the Webb County Alliance for Minorities in Engineering where he helped coordinate various events and competitions for area students. Perez was the recipient of the Ford Salute to Education Award in 2002, named to the Who’s Who among American Teachers Award in 2004, and was selected in 1997 as the most valuable teacher by the University of A&M College Station.
“It’s an honor to be serving the students and families of District 4,” Mr. Perez said. “It is my vision to work collaboratively as a member of the LISD Board of Trustees to promote, enhance, and maximize the overall academic success of all students.
Mr. Perez and his wife Linda Jo, are the proud parents of four children, Yelitza Howard, Gustavo Alan, John Sabas, and Alfredo Samuel and four grandchildren Alan Eliseo, Madeline Rose, Arya Madison, and Jackson Anthony.
Mr. Perez represents District 4 which includes Alma Pierce Elementary, K. Tarver Elementary, and Nixon High Schools.
