my perspective

The LISD Office of Communications is initiating a monthly writing project titled “From My Perspective.” Its main purpose is to highlight the creative minds in the district. This project is open to all elementary and secondary schools and departments.

Topics will range each month. January’s topic: Forms of Love

Categories: 

Elementary (3rd grade - 5th grade), Secondary (6th grade - 12th grade), and Adult

  • Poetry

  • Ex. sonnets, free verse, haiku, limerick, etc.

  • Short story: maximum of 1,000 words (3 pages)

  • Article: maximum of 1,000 words (3 pages)

  • Ex. Interviews, How-To, etc.

  • Creative Essays: maximum of 1,000 words (3 pages)

  • Ex. Descriptive essays, comparison and contrast essays, exemplification essays, analogy essays, cause and effect essays, argument and persuasive essays, etc. 

  • Topics of interest include “The experience of…,” “The day you decided to…,” “Surviving a…,” “Ways of…,” etc.

Literary work can be written in English or Spanish. Each submitted writing must include a related original photo or work of art (ex. Sketch drawing, painting, etc.). This can be in collaboration with other students or administration. 

 Recipients will be highlighted in the following: 

  • LISD website

  • Published in district’s Las Escuelas Newsletter

  • LISD social media and school campus’ social media pages

  • All school TV monitors

  • ITV YouTube video

 

We look forward to reading all the creative pieces. The Office of Communications and ITV will schedule a photo and video for the final three entry participants.
