What is School Health Advisory Council?

A SHAC is a school district created advisory group, consisting of members from different areas of the community and school district. By law, a majority of the members must be persons who are parents of students enrolled in the district . LaredoISD we have collaborated to create a community that embodies our goals, our community is made up of parents, community members, students and district and school staff all working together to improve the health of all students at LISD. The job of the SHAC is to make sure that the school district's school health programs reflect local community values. The responsibility of the committe is to provide specialized information, skils and experience, provide guidance and oversight, and promote community involvement.

The work of SHAC is carried out by its committees, which include: Family & Community Involvement, Nutrition, Physical Education & Activity, Health Education, Social & Emotional Wellness, Health Services, Healthy School Environment, and Staff Wellness.
