Martin High School presented nine Tiger Legends inductees for the Class of 2023 during a ceremony at the school library.
The Legends were recognized for their outstanding achievements and contributions as distinguished graduates of MHS. During the ceremony, the inductees were honored with a standing ovation and a parade of applause for their recognition.
Honorary students each read a short biography and presented a brief presentation of an inductee’s life and their accomplishments and contributions during and after high school.
This year’s inductees include Robert Muller, 1956; Elias Mendiola, Jr., 1959; Socorro Cortez Garza, 1960; Margie Ramirez Ibarra, 1964; Hector J. Garcia, 1970; Carmen H. Gonzalez, 1973; Imelda Rios Cuellar, 1975; Gerardo Arambula, 1979; and Coleen P. Rodriguez, 2004.
MHS Principal Mario Mireles explained the history of the school from his perspective. He continued to detail the unnoticed dent the original wooden floors have, holding every dear memory, pep-rally animo, academic and athletic accomplishments, and recognition stories that have been passed from generation to generation. “I want to thank all of our inductees for sharing the stories and traditions they created in the same halls our students walk today. But most importantly, I appreciate the words of wisdom and encouragement they have dedicated to these young Tigers. I know our students are listening, are taking it to heart, and will be following their advice for their future success in life.”
