The Laredo Independent School District is proud to announce the District’s new Executive Director of Federal Programs and School Improvement. After serving as principal at Cigarroa High School, Jose Iznaloa has been named the Executive Director of Federal Programs and School Improvement.
Iznaola has dedicated over two decades of his career to the field of education, leaving a mark through his multiple roles and commitment to student success. He has held key roles within the education sector, starting as a classroom teacher at United South High School’s Magnet Program from 2003-2008. His leadership qualities drove him through roles as a testing coordinator and assistant principal at LBJ High School.
Iznaola joined the LISD family when he became principal at the Hector J. Garcia Early College High School in 2018. As the principal of Cigarroa High School from 2019-2024, Iznaola's vision and leadership shaped the school's educational landscape, emphasizing academic excellence alongside personal growth and character development.
Throughout his career, Iznaola has demonstrated a passion for nurturing young minds and fostering environments conducive to learning and championed innovative educational practices aimed at equipping students for future challenges.
Iznaola’s professional journey began when he earned his bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) in 1992. He earned an MBA in International Trade from TAMIU in 1996. Iznaola also attained his classroom teaching certification in 2005 from TAMIU and in 2012, his principal certification.
As he moves into a new role, Iznaola will continue his dedicated service to students, teachers, and the community, bringing with him his deep passion and firm commitment to education.
