The Laredo Independent School District announced the appointment of Amber Almanza as the new Principal of Don Jose Gallego Elementary School during an LISD Board Meeting on June 25. Almanza's exemplary journey in education, marked by dedication, innovation, and leadership, makes her an outstanding choice for this role.
Almanza, a proud product of LISD's Bruni Elementary School, graduated from United South High School in 2002. Her passion for education led her to Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Language Arts. Almanza's teaching career began at Memorial Middle School, where she served with distinction from 2007 to 2020. During her tenure, she was renowned for her innovative teaching methods and unwavering commitment to student success.
In 2018, Almanza furthered her education by obtaining a master's degree in educational leadership from TAMIU. Her dedication and expertise led her to embrace a new challenge in October, 2020, when she became the Assistant Principal at Dovalina Elementary. In this role, Almanza demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment for both students and staff. Her ability to connect with the school community and drive positive change has been a hallmark of her career.
Outside of her professional life, Almanza enjoys reading and spending quality time with her family. She loves going on road trips, exploring new places, and creating lasting memories with her husband and four children.
