The Laredo Independent School District Board of Trustees hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new LISD Administration Building now located at 2400 San Bernardo. Additionally, LISD announced the relocation of the Amber Yeary Board Room to its new building. Approximately 200 people in attendance, which included elected officials and former district board members, also celebrated the dedication of the Dr. A. Marcus Nelson Conference Center.
LISD continues to work hand in hand with our Laredo Police Department and City law enforcement agencies to protect all of our students, staff and schools. We encourage the reporting of any potential danger and will act swiftly to prosecute any offenders to the full extent of the law. Working together we can deter any threats to the safety of our LISD teaching and learning community. “See something, hear something, say something.”

The LISD Instructional Technology Department presented at the 12th Annual TCEA Area 01 Technology Conference at TAMIU.
The Laredo Independent School District Board of Trustees dedicates the J.W. Nixon High School Honors Wind Ensemble Rehearsal Hall in honor of Mr. Carlos Luna. The entire music community was in attendance this morning to congratulate him, amongst were former colleagues, students, and assistant band directors.
Carlos Luna was named Director of the J.W. Nixon High School Band in 1984, a position he held for almost three decades. Mr. Luna, his students, and staff received an unprecedented 28 consecutive U.I.L. Sweepstakes Awards. Congratulations, Mr. Luna!
