The LISD Dr. Marcus Nelson Conference Center was filled with smiling faces as LISD's special needs students participated in the district's Special Education Department’s Pee Wee Young Athletes Competition Field Day. The special education students who are in adaptive physical education classes participated in adaptive physical activity events including soccer, bowling, beanbag toss, giant ball push, obstacle course, and a variety of other activities.
With the assistance of our high school student –athletes our young students participated in each event and were able to enjoy their day.
Prior to the competition, the students will participate in a Parade of Athletes. The students will also be treated to a Victory Dance and lunch after the field events are completed.
LISD’s Special Education teachers, teacher aides, Adapted Physical Education coaches, under the direction of Special Education Director Raul Gomez, made this event possible and accessible for the students.
