Do you know Mrs. Linda Agrahari?
GECHS Campus Spotlight: Mrs. Linda Agrahari’s role at Garcia ECHS is Dean of Instruction. She is a proud product of Laredo ISD, and is grateful for the opportunity to serve LISD students for the past 16 years. Mrs. Agrahari holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum & Instruction, both earned at TAMIU. As a first-generation graduate, she finds fulfillment in supporting and encouraging each student's educational journey, and helping bridge any gaps. She shares: “I believe in creating an inclusive and supportive environment for students. I look forward to a memorable year of learning, growth, and shared successes. I am thrilled to be an integral part of the Phoenix family”. #PhoenixPride

Do you know Mrs. Dalhi Pena Garcia?
GECHS Campus Spotlight: Mrs. Dalhi Pena Garcia is a Spanish teacher who has been working with LISD for 15 years. She graduated with her bachelor's degree from TAMIU in 2008, and in 2022 she completed her Master's in Curriculum and Instruction. Mrs. Pena Garcia is very proud of her roots, as she did not study in the United States until the university, and despite the language barrier, she completed her studies. She sets an example for her students and encourages them to aim high. She finds joy in her job and is happy to see her students excelling in their studies. Mrs. Pena Garcia is proud to see her former students becoming professionals. #PhoenixPride

Do you know Mr. Francisco Moreno?
GECHS Campus Spotlight: Mr. Francisco Moreno is a proud graduate of Cigarroa High School, the Pride of South Laredo. Mr. Moreno has been working with Laredo ISD and GECHS for four years. He enjoys his job at GECHS because he is always willing to assist the faculty, staff, and students with anything they need and takes great pride in keeping the campus clean. "I am proud to be a Phoenix!" says Mr. Moreno. #PhoenixPride

Do you know Victor Canales?
GECHS Campus Spotlight: Mr. Victor Canales is a new teacher who graduated from TAMIU in 2021. He completed his high school education at Lyndon B. Johnson High School in 2016. Mr. Canales teaches Math and is also a coach for UIL Calculator Applications and Number Sense at GECHS. He loves teaching at GECHS and finds it very satisfying to educate the students. Mr. Canales says that “even though it's his first year as a teacher, his colleagues have been very accommodating and supportive of him in this new environment.” #PhoenixPride
GECHS’s seniors are starting to receive their university acceptance letters. Congratulations to Esai Morales who was accepted to the University of New Haven. #PhoenixPride
LISD campuses will be closed from Monday, December 18, 2023 through Monday, January 8, 2024 in observance of the Christmas Holidays.
All LISD campuses will resume their regular schedules on Tuesday, January 9, 2024. Employees will return for Staff Development on Monday, January 8, 2024.

Congratulations to LISD’ December Student of the Month recipients. They are Alesandra Gabrielle Mata, Christen Middle School; Miguel Angel Martinez, Memorial Middle School; Alberto Santos-Rivera, Lamar Middle School; Carlos Serna, Cigarroa Middle School; Athena Ponce, Martin High School; Hunter Salinas, Nixon High School; Adrian Zamora, Cigarroa High School; and Valeria Ledesma, Garcia Early College High School.
The Student of the Month Program is designed to recognize worthy students for their exemplary academic efforts, community service, citizenship, athletics, or volunteer service. The student should demonstrate average academic effort, good school attendance and good discipline. The nominated student should also demonstrate one of the four Leading the Way categories; Leading with Heart, Inspiring Change, Supports Growth, and Drive Results.
