
Online registration is NOW OPEN! All students in pre-kinder through 12th grade who would like to attend any school in Laredo Independent School District for the 2024-2025 school year can begin the registration process by visiting the district’s website at www.laredoisd.org.
The registration process is available in both English and Spanish. For any assistance, please call (956) 273-1278 where trained staff will be available by phone to assist any parent who needs extra support with the registration process.


For the first time ever, a Hector. J Garcia Early College High School student was accepted to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. GECHS senior Aron Fuentes was nominated and accepted for this honor by U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar. Fuentes became the first GECHS student accepted to the prestigious academy.

A ceremony was held in honor of GECHS student Aaron Fuentes, who was accepted to West Point Academy, was a heartfelt celebration of his remarkable achievement. Among the esteemed guests were Congressman Henry Cuellar , Sheriff Martín Cuellar, LISD board of trustees members, Veronica Orduno and Goyo Lopez, and Dr. Sylvia Rios, LISD superintendent of schools. The event was attended by members of the GECHS administration, faculty, and students, who joined Aaron's parents, Mr. Pete and Ana Fuentes, along with his brother and grandparents. Close friends and even Aaron's kindergarten teacher were also present, adding to the warmth of the occasion. Congressman Henry Cuéllar presented Aaron with a special plaque, symbolizing the significance of this milestone in his life. It was a privilege to be part of such a momentous event and to witness Aaron's journey to success. Additionally, Aaron's TAMIU UNIV professor Daniel De La Miyar and classmates were also in attendance, further highlighting the widespread support and admiration for Aaron's accomplishments.

LISD is diving into reading! Help us celebrate National Library Week!


The LISD Federal Programs Department will host its 3rd Annual Parent Meeting Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Martin High School from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. This opportunity will provide parents with high impact instructional strategies and accountability updates that will benefit our students.
Community agencies from Laredo Regional Food Bank and Catholic Charities of Laredo will be on hand to discuss the different programs available, along with pre qualifications. *See flyer for more information.*



Congratulations to the GECHS Robotics Team FTC 12347 Cephalobots and their sponsor Mr. De Guzman, who showcased their exceptional skills and teamwork at the FTC State UIL 5A Robotics Championship held on March 21-23, 2024, at the Cadence Bank Center in Belton, Texas. Their dedication and hard work paid off as they clinched the Semi-Finalist Award with a Bronze Medal and secured the 2nd place Team Spirit Award. Amongst tough competition, they ranked 12 in their Division of 36 teams. #PhoenixPride.


LISD will have early release on Thursday, March 28, at 2:15 and will not have classes on Friday, March 29, and Monday, April 1, in observance of Easter. Classes will resume on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.
TAMIU will not have classes on Friday, March 29, 2024 but will have classes on Monday, April 1, for grades 10, 11, 12. Please see Transportation Schedule.

Discover TAMIU is a university-wide Open House offering students of all ages, their families, and community members the opportunity to experience Texas A&M International University. This event is packed with hands-on activities, student performances, and informative sessions.
