Laredo Independent School District is proud to announce that several of its campuses have been recognized by the Educational Results Partnership (ERP), a non-profit organization that applies data science to accelerate student success. The 2024 Texas Honor Roll is a prestigious annual list that identifies top-performing public schools across the state.

The LISD campuses recognized for their outstanding student achievement and success in closing performance gaps include Hector J. Garcia Early College High School, Farias Elementary School, Heights Elementary School, Leyendecker Elementary School, Alma Pierce Elementary School, Santo Niño Elementary School, J.C. Martin Elementary School, and J. A. Kawas Elementary School.

“Being named to the 2024 Texas Honor Roll is more than a recognition; it’s a celebration of the deep-rooted dedication, innovation, and passion that our educators and students bring to our schools daily,” said Dr. Sylvia G. Rios, LISD Superintendent of Schools. “These campuses are proof of what we can achieve when we align our efforts with purpose and vision. At Laredo ISD, we are committed to Empowering Minds, Shaping Futures, and Strengthening Communities, and this distinction highlights how we are demonstrating that commitment. We are proud to be paving the way for student success, equity, and opportunity in every classroom.”

Now in its 10th year, the Texas Honor Roll recognizes public schools, school districts, and charter schools that outperformed their peers in closing achievement gaps, particularly among higher-poverty and historically disadvantaged student populations. The recognition is based on performance data from the 2022 through 2024 academic years on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR).

“The Honor Roll recognizes high-performing schools where students are learning the fundamental skills employers demand,” said Dan Kinney, ERP’s Board Chair. “ERP is proud to recognize these schools, and we want to learn about their best practices for teaching the fundamental skills of reading, writing and math.”

This year 762 schools and 63 school districts in Texas made the Honor Roll. This is approximately 12 percent of eligible schools and 9 percent of eligible school districts in the state. The full list of Honor Roll schools is now posted at edresults.org/honor-roll

The Honor Roll is presented by the Campaign for Business and Education Excellence (CBEE) in partnership with the Texas Business Leadership Council and other business leaders across the state.

Unlike other award programs, the Texas Honor Roll relies solely on objective student performance data to identify successful schools. The goal is not only to highlight these high-performing campuses but also to inspire collaboration and the sharing of best practices among educators throughout the state.
