Safety & Occupational Health/Risk/Emergency Management Department

Mission

The mission of the Safety & Occupational Health/Risk/Emergency Management Department is to provide and promote occupational health and safety within the school district. It is also our intent to provide safer and healthier ways of working, thus ensuring appropriate environmental and health conditions for all students, staff, and guests of LISD.

Goals

The goals of the Safety and Occupational Health/Risk/Emergency Management Department are to educate designated staff of the hazards and causes of occupational injuries and illnesses. Based on that education, the Safety and Occupational Health/Risk/Emergency Management Department will develop and enforce standards to remove specific hazards from the workplace. The following components will be implemented:

  1. Increasing occupational disease and injury prevention activities through workplace evaluations, interventions, and recommendations.

  2. Developing a system for surveillance of major occupational injuries, exposures, and health hazards.

  3. Providing designated staff with adequate information, training, and capacity to prevent occupational injuries.
