📚 Books, voices, and imaginations came to life today at Heights Elementary for World Read Aloud Day! LISD Board Vice President Goyo M. Lopez brought The Pied Piper to life for Mrs. Erica Flores’ 5th-grade class using a comic book from his personal childhood collection. Laredo Independent School District (LISD) takes immense pride in offering students this valuable opportunity as part of our commitment to College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR). This initiative ensures students graduate well-equipped for their futures—whether they pursue higher education, enter the workforce, or serve in the military.
Through this program, LISD provides students with hands-on training in a high-demand field, helping them earn industry-recognized certifications for high-wage careers that are critically needed in our local community. Some of our very own students have already earned their certifications and are in the process of joining the LISD family in the Transportation Department as official school bus drivers!

LISD fifth grade students attended the WBCA-SMW George Washington Theater Performance at the TAMIU Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall
The Laredo Independent School District will be releasing students at Cigarroa High School and Cigarroa Middle School today at 1:30 p.m., due to a water line break. Laredo ISD expects the water line to be repaired later today.
Parents are asked to please pick up their children at 1:30 p.m.
LISD Transportation Department has already sent buses for those students who rely on bus transportation.
The LISD Child Nutrition Program is providing lunch in the schools’ cafeterias.
Classes at Cigarroa High School and Cigarroa Middle School will resume on Thursday, February 6, at their regularly scheduled time.

Russell Cerda and Minnie Haynes Rodriguez the couple portraying George and Martha Washing visited J.C. Martin Elementary School and held a presentation about Colonial America and the American Revolution for all third-grade students. George and Martha also invited the students to attend WBCA events during the month of February.

Esports Tournament
Cigarroa High School and the Sabas Perez Early College High School will be hosting a high school Esports tournament at Cigarroa High School on Saturday, March 29.
The game that will be played is Super Smash Bros. on the Nintendo Switch,.
