Laredo ISD Library Director, Mely Paez, and our dedicated campus librarians engaged in insightful learning sessions at the Texas Librarian Association Annual Conference in San Antonio, Texas. They had the unique opportunity to attend a panel discussion by John Quinones, ABC News correspondent, and Maria Elena Salinas, Hispanic journalist for Noticiero Univision about their book "One Year in Uvalde."
The conference was also a hub for learning, connection, and inspiration. Paez and our campus librarians engaged in insightful learning sessions, mingled with various authors, and networked with fellow Texas librarians. They exchanged innovative teaching ideas, fostering a collaborative environment that will ultimately enrich our library programs. It's fantastic to see our librarians leading the way and embracing new opportunities! #lisdistheplacetobe #lisdleadingtheway

We are thrilled to share that U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar and the Rio Grande International Study Center have awarded Laredo ISD a $3,120,000 Forestry Grant, bringing more green to our schools! This grant supports the Adelante con Arboles Project and will allow the planting of trees at eight elementary and middle school campuses!
Together, LISD we are inspiring change; creating eco-friendly campuses and fostering environmental awareness. This project is about more than just trees—it's a commitment to environmental education, eco-friendly campuses, and a better future for our students, teachers, and families.
The Adelante con Arboles Project will open new doors for outdoor learning, connecting students with nature and fostering a culture of sustainability.
