The U.S. Southern District of Texas Laredo Division welcomes the first LISD Kazen Fellows cohort! Ten high school students were selected to study under the direction of U.S District Judge Diana Saldaña. For the next six weeks, students will have the opportunity to learn about the American Judicial System, Federal and State Courthouse Procedures, Overviews of Municipal Law, Mock Trial Preparations, among other topics. Students will also be able to listen to informative presentations by guest speakers such as Webb County Attorneys, Federal Judges, U.S. Marshal Services, News Media, U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar, and others.

Congratulations to Sanchez-Ochoa Elementary School Cafeteria Staff for receiving the Fresh Fruit & Vegetable (FFVP) Program Pear-fection Award from the Texas Department of Agriculture for 2022-2023 School Year! Sanchez-Ochoa Elementary School was the only school to receive this recognition in Laredo.

Cigarroa High School senior football players Ya-aqob Lozano and David Garza have committed to play football at the University of Dubuque. They signed their National Letter of Intent to continue their academic and football career at the University of Dubuque in Dubuque Iowa. Ya-aqob Lozano has chosen to major in sports management while David Garza has chosen kinesiology.
Nixon High School senior soccer player Alexis Aldana has committed to play soccer at Huston-Tillotson University. He signed his National Letter of Intent to continue his academic and soccer career at the Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, Texas.

A total of 16 semi-finalists, four from each high school, were selected for the final phase of the giveaway. The Laredo Federal Credit Union is sponsoring the vehicle's tax, title and license.
