LISD Flu Clinic

The Laredo Independent School District in partnership with the City of Laredo Health Department is offering flu vaccines at no cost for LISD students that are eligible under the Texas Vaccine for Children requirements (TVFC)*. The flu vaccine clinics are scheduled to begin this week at J.C. Martin Elementary School, Garcia Early College and Valdez High Schools and Lara Academy. Flu vaccine clinics are also scheduled for next week at the following schools Kawas, Santo Nino, Daiches, Heights, Leyendecker, and D.D. Hachar Elementary Schools and Martin High School. LISD anticipates scheduling additional flu shot clinics based on vaccine availability.

Elementary school students will have their flu vaccines scheduled at their schools. Parents/guardians must accompany pre-k to kinder on the day of the scheduled vaccine. Students in first grade to 12th grade must submit a signed parent pre-consent with their school nurse on designated consent dates.

“LISD encourages all parents to make sure their children get their flu shot this year,” said LISD Health Services Director Grace Lopez. “It is important to be pro-active in the prevention of illnesses such as influenza, and one way of preventing illness is to get vaccinated as soon as possible.”

If your child has any medical conditions or experienced a severe reaction to a previous flu vaccine be sure to consult with your child’s doctor and inform the Campus nurse. Consult your child’s doctor if you have any questions about flu prevention.

Arrangements are being made to provide vaccines for those students that do not qualify for the TVFC (Texas Vaccine for Children) Vaccine. Information will be shared when it is made available

Attached is a list of dates and sites for the flu clinic.  For more information and a complete list of campus sites and designated consent form signing dates, contact your school nurse or visit www.laredoisd.org. Please keep in mind that these dates are subject to change depending on flu vaccine availability.
