Juan Manuel is a proud Cigarroa High School and Sabas Perez Early College High School student for the past four years. As a senior, Juan applied to the Gates Scholarship (TGS) which is a highly selective scholarship for outstanding, minority, high school seniors. Each year, the scholarship is awarded to exceptional student leaders, with the intent of helping them realize their maximum potential. Over 51,000 students submitted applications from across the nation and only 750 students were selected to be a part of the elite class of 2023 Gates Scholars. Juan Manuel Lara is now part of this elite class of young leaders who represent high achievement in academics, service, leadership ability, and commitment. Juan Manuel’s hard work and perseverance have set him apart from other students across the nation.

Our CHS students participated in the second part of the GEAR UP/Seeds Student Leadership workshop. During the workshop, students learned various leadership and collaboration skills. Special thanks to Mr. Cavazos for attending the event with our students #gearupworks
